The Town of Fairfax is modernizing its business license program and moving to a new online system for renewals. Beginning January 1, 2026, all business license renewals will be completed digitally — no more paper packets in the mail! And no need to wait until after the holiday closure; renewals and payments can be submitted online as soon as the new system goes live.
Business owners who prefer to pay by check or need assistance with the online process are always welcome to visit Town Hall during our front counter hours.
As part of this transition, the Town is also conducting a routine review to ensure our business records are complete. If a business receives a notice, there’s no need to worry — Fairfax is offering a penalty-fee amnesty through February 15, allowing businesses to catch up on missed renewals without any past penalties, paying only the current year’s fee.
How you will receive your renewal link:
-
Businesses will receive an email with a direct link to the public renewal form — but only if the Town already has an email address on file.
-
Businesses that do not have an email address registered with the Town will receive their notice by mail instead.
-
If a business does not receive either an email or a mailed notice, they should contact:
businesslicense@townoffairfaxca.gov
to provide or update their email address and ensure they don’t miss the renewal window.
We’re excited to roll out a system that will make renewals faster, easier, and more convenient for the Fairfax business community. More details will be shared in the coming months — keep an eye on the Business License webpage for updates.
