Fairfax is committed to Zero Waste and Reducing Green House Gas Emissions

The Town is committed to protecting community health and wellbeing by taking measures to address climate change and its impacts to our environment and social equity.

In 2021, The Town created a Climate Action Plan that details the Town Council's goals for a more sustainable future and actions the Town will take to reduce its carbon footprint. The Fairfax Town Council passed a resolution in March of 2019 declaring a Climate Emergency and set a goal of zero emissions by 2030, in alignment with the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The Town’s Climate Action Committee serves as the advisory body to the Town Council on matters related to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and implementing the Climate Action Plan.
