Election Officially Comes to a Close in Marin County

Posted on December 3, 2025

Marin County, CA – The book is closed on the November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election in Marin County, and the County’s Elections Department has some interesting statistics and acknowledgments to distribute.

On December 2, Registrar of Voters Natalie Adona certified the election, which included the statewide Proposition 50 about redistricting plus two local measures in Sausalito, two recalls in Fairfax, and one measure in the Petaluma Joint Union High School District. With the completion of the special election, Adona extended her gratitude to her 11 full-time staff members, 25 temporary office support staffers, and 20 workers at vote centers who clocked long hours to plan and administer the high-profile election.

“I’m so proud of the Marin County Elections team for administering a statewide election in just 75 days,” she said. “I want to extend my deepest thanks to the staff and to all the election workers who served our community. And of course, to all the voters who participated — you are what makes Marin a great place to be.”

Voter turnout was just over 68%, among the highest of any county in the state.

“The staff’s professionalism and ability to adapt under uncertain conditions were some of the key reasons why voters were able to turn out in such high numbers,” Adona said.

Adona also reported these facts from the election:

  • Of the total number of ballots returned, approximately 95% were returned by mail or by county drop box.
  • An estimated 30,000 ballots were mailed or dropped off on Election Day.
  • Nearly 5,000 voters chose to cast a ballot in person on Election Day.
