Fairfax Bridge Preventative Maintenance Program (BPMP)

The Town of Fairfax is undertaking the Bridge Preventative Maintenance Program (BPMP) to ensure the continued safety, functionality, and longevity of key bridge infrastructure within the community. As part of the environmental review process, the Town has prepared a Draft Initial Study and Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) for public review.

Purpose

Notice is hereby given that the Town of Fairfax, acting as Lead Agency under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), is releasing for review and comment to all agencies, organizations and interested persons, a Draft Initial Study and Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) for the Town of Fairfax Bridge Preventative Maintenance Program (Project).

Project Description

The purpose of the Bridge Preventative Maintenance Program (BPMP) is to maintain the existing inventory of bridges in good or fair condition, correct structural deficiencies in a bridge's life before requiring costly rehabilitation, and extend the service life of existing bridges. Various improvements and levels of repair are needed for each of the three bridges. Construction work in the creek would be completed during the dry season when the local creek segments are at their lowest flow rates, and the work areas would be dewatered by temporarily diverting potential flows.

Environmental Review Process

The environmental analysis has been conducted in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The Draft IS/MND evaluates potential environmental impacts associated with the proposed maintenance activities and identifies mitigation measures where necessary.

Public Review Period

January 16, 2026 – February 16, 2026

Members of the public, responsible agencies, and interested organizations are encouraged to review the documents and submit written comments during the review period. Comments received by the close of the review period will be considered prior to finalizing the environmental determination.
