General Plan
The Town of Fairfax’s 2010-2030 General Plan was adopted by the Fairfax Town Council on April 4, 2012 and has been update several times since then. The General Plan is intended to be a "living document" and revised from time-to-time as the needs of the community change. Several elements of the General Plan have been amended since 2012, including significant updates to the Housing Element, Safety Element, Land Use Element and Town Center Element.

Safety Element. In July of 2025, the Town Council adopted a new Safety Element (Safety Element (Final)). The updated element will better align with the recently adopted Local Hazard Mitigation Plan found here.

Land Use / Town Center Elements. Also in July of 2025, the Town Council adopted a new Land Use Element which consolidated the Town Center Element within the Land Use Element (Land Use Element (Final)).

Housing Element. The sixth cycle of the Housing Element was updated at the end of 2023 and Certified by the State in early 2024. Town Staff are actively implementing its programs. For more information, see here.

Circulation Element. Town Staff are preparing to update the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan with funding received from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. Check back for updates this summer.
