What is happening?
The National Weather Service forecasts multiple storm systems impacting Marin County through Friday, bringing periods of rain and wind. Total rainfall from Monday through Friday is expected to range from 4 to 10 inches countywide. The strongest impacts are anticipated on Tuesday, December 23, with wind gusts reaching the 40 mph range.
Periods of heavy rain may cause creeks and streams to rise and result in localized flooding or ponding in low-lying, flood-prone, or poorly drained areas. A Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday at 10 p.m.
A High Wind Watch is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday through 4 a.m. Wednesday, with potential impacts including power outages, downed power lines, falling trees due to saturated soils, property damage, and hazardous travel. There is also a slight chance of thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday.
