Parklet Program

The Town of Fairfax, Parklet Program allows for town center businesses to use adjacent parking spaces and sidewalks as outdoor seating and retail areas. Parklets are a great way to support local businesses and create a pedestrian friendly and active street environments. Parklets require the issuance of an encroachment permit from the Town and the payment of an annual fee by the adjacent business using the parklet. Parklets are inspected by the Town to ensure compliance with safety standards, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The town center area now has several operational parklets. Chapter 5.58 (Parklets) [add link] of the Fairfax Municipal Code contains regulations related to parklets. The Town Council also adopted the following two resolutions to establish Parklet Standards and Parklet Fees:

Parklet Standards - Reso 22-69 Exhibit A

and

Parklet Fees - Reso 22-82
