Recall Fairfax Update

Posted on July 2, 2025

At 10:00 a.m. on June 30, recall proponents submitted signature gathering forms for two recall petitions: one for Vice Mayor Stephanie Hellman and one for Mayor Lisel Blash. The required number of signatures for each petition was 1479 (25% of the Fairfax registered voters). The prima facie (raw) count of signatures for recall of Vice Mayor Hellman was 1806 and the prima facie (raw) count of signatures for recall of Mayor Blash was 1783.

The Town Clerk who was appointed to the elected position in 2025 provided over the prima facie (raw) count. There were approximately 40 public observers during the process. The Police Chief was present and took the records and the Town Clerk to the Civic Center to submit the petitions to the Marin County Registrar of Voters.

The Registrar of Voters has up to 30 business (“working days“) days to verify each signature for each petition to confirm that each signature belongs to a registered voter who lives within the town limits of Fairfax, California.
