This grant will support The Mud Bus Marin, a new mobile ceramics-education initiative created in collaboration with Sharon Virtue, one of Fairfax’s Artists in Residence. The project will build meaningful relationships with Marin-based organizations—such as the Fairfax San Anselmo Children’s Center and Ross Valley Seniors—and provide hands-on ceramics education to local youth and seniors in a safe, accessible, and culturally relevant environment.

Designed as a pilot project, The Mud Bus Marin will include three 8-week program modules serving up to 60 participants beginning in 2026. Through these workshops, participants will explore creativity, self-expression, and community building while learning foundational ceramics techniques.

“We are thrilled to bring more accessible arts programming directly to community members,” said Anne Mannes, Community Services Manager for the Town of Fairfax. “This project reflects our commitment to expanding intergenerational art experiences, reducing barriers to participation, and strengthening community connections.”

The Town extends special appreciation to Marin Arts for serving as the project’s fiscal sponsor.
