Tree Committee

Purpose

The Tree Advisory Committee plays an essential role in preserving our community’s trees. They are responsible for reviewing tree removal and alteration applications and making recommendations to the Director of Planning and Building Services on whether to grant or deny permits.

The primary purpose of the Tree Advisory Committee is to protect the health and well-being of our trees, as outlined in Ordinance No. 387, passed in 1973. This ordinance aims to preserve the wide variety of native trees that help prevent topsoil erosion, reduce the risk of landslides, and improve air quality by absorbing excess carbon dioxide. Trees also add to the scenic beauty and aesthetic value of our town.

Meetings

The Tree Committee meets on the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Fairfax Women's Club, 46 Park Road. The agenda for the meeting is posted 10 days in advance. Meetings are open to the public.
